Nutritionist in Cambridge / Melanie Hanspall / My journey

Several years ago, I moved back to Cambridge after living in London for many years. I’d had enough of the long hours, commuting, and never seemed to have enough time to myself. The fast pace of living and working in London, often left me feeling exhausted, and at times, not looking after myself as well as I probably should have. This resulted in having to have a minor operation, which made me re-evaluate my lifestyle and diet.

 

I decided that I needed a change in my life, the first of which was to make plans to move back to Cambridge to be near my family again. This has allowed me to live a slower pace of life which enabled me to make changes to my health and fitness. I've been practicing pilates, yoga and love cycling, which is an ideal way to get around Cambridge!

 

I have always been interested in healthy eating and have a passion for cooking, something that was passed onto me from my parents, who are both amazing cooks! I believe that you can make healthy, balanced meals on any budget, it just takes a little bit of time and planning.

After researching different colleges, I found the Blackford centre and having read the amazing testimonials from students that had graduated, I applied to do a diploma in Nutrition level 4 for which I received a distinction grade. Since graduating, I have been helping clients to achieve a well-balanced diet together with an exercise and nutrition plan to help them prevent illnesses which arise from poor diet and lack of exercise.

I attend courses and workshops at CNM college (college of naturopathic medicine) in London, as I believe it's important to keep learning and looking at different approaches towards nutrition.

Over the past two years I have been working with local companies in Cambridge: ARM, Cambridge Assessment, Astra Zeneca, Medimmune and Cambridge University Press within their wellbeing departments which I really enjoy and would like to work with more local companies advising staff on nutrition.

 

 

I enjoy organising nutrition and yoga events which enables me to work with other wellbeing practitioners.....
