My Journey

How it all started...

lovenutritioncambridge

My holistic health and wellness journey started in 2011 when, exhausted from living and working in London, I moved back to my home town of Cambridge. Having always been a keen cook and a lover of entertaining, I decided to turn my passion into a freelance career. I'd always been inspired by my parents who taught me to cook and are both creative and passionate cooks! The first step of which was embarking on a diploma course in Nutrition level 4 at the Blackford centre - an online college, as I was working full time. I was in my element, talking all of the time about nutrition at the same time going on my own personal journey with my health and wellbeing. Then, looking for a more holistic approach I signed up at the College of Naturopathic Medicine (CNM) in London to study a short course: Nutrition For Everyday Living which was a game changer and seriously opened my eyes to more holistic approach to health and wellbeing. As soon as I finished that course, I changed all of my skin/hair care, household products to non-toxic and began to integrate naturopathic principles into my daily life.

That was 11 years ago and I haven't looked back! My experience has been varied - nutrition coaching and workshops in the corporate world in Cambridge with companies ARM and Cambridge University Press/Assessment, educational cooking classes and workshops for Cambridge and Huntingdon councils, organising my own and collaborating with wellbeing practitioners on wellness and yoga retreats, pop ups in Cambridge and London, exhibitor/supplier at the vegan market in Cambridge, assisting CSF (Cambridge Sustainable Food) as a chef, catering for many different types of events including weddings, birthday parties and even a couple of hen nights!

More recently, I have been travelling in India where I had the opportunity to study at The School of Ayurveda and Panchakarma in Kannur, Kerala with 3 incredibly experienced doctors: Alishia, Rajesh and Sapna who introduced me to the Tri dosha concept - 3 doshas often talked about in Ayurveda's sister science Yoga. The diploma course also included: Ayurvedic Massage therapy, Herbology, Patient case study and diagnosis, Ayurvedic cooking and nutrition based on the six tastes, seasons and doshas.

My love of all things Indian comes from my Dad's background (he's Sikh Punjabi) and frequent travel since 1994 to India has grown my love for the food, people, vibrancy and diversity of life! Every time I visit India, I feel a sense that I'm 'home' and it's not just because I'm half Indian, many people I've spoken to have the same feeling - it's a truly magical place to experience, incredibly inspiring and humbling.
